Who is the principal of Andrew Jackson School?

A.

Kelly Espinosa is the school`s principal.

Kelly Espinosa began her career at Gotwals Elementary in Norristown, Pennsylvania in 2009. In 2010, she was hired as a bilingual 2nd grade teacher at Eugenio Maria de Hostos Charter School, an Aspira of Pennsylvania Charter School located in Philadelphia. In 2014, she was recruited by the Director of Curriculum and Instruction of Aspira Schools to help open a K-12 Charter School in Allentown, Pennsylvania. During this process, Mrs. Espinosa wrote curriculum maps for various K-12 courses, aiding Executive Education Academy Charter School (EEACS) to become the only new charter school approved for opening in Pennsylvania for the 2014-2015 school year. In her capacity of instructional coach, Mrs. Espinosa was directly involved in the creation, implementation, and the refinement of the academic program at EEACS and served as the direct supervisor of instruction. She developed and implemented professional development sessions and individualized coaching plans to support teacher growth, utilized data to make informed decisions, worked with families and the community to increase engagement, and helped support the daily operations and management of students and staff.

Mrs. Espinosa holds a certificate in Elementary Education K-6 from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, a Master’s in Education with a Reading Specialist PK-12 certificate from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania, and a Post-Master’s Principal PK-12 certificate from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania. She enjoys spending time with her husband, a Philadelphia School District teacher, and her 22-month old son.

Who is eligible to attend Andrew Jackson Elementary School?

Jackson is a neighborhood school and has its own catchment area. To determine if you are in Jackson’s catchment, use the School District’s SchoolFinder.  If you are outside of the catchment, you should go to the School District’s website for information on voluntary transfer policies and procedures. These policies change periodically as do the catchment boundaries, depending on changing population numbers in the neighborhood. A.

The Friends of Jackson, a 501c3 nonprofit organization, was formed in 2013 in response to the continued resource crisis facing our city’s public schools, and in particular, our neighborhood school. We are made up of future and current parents of Jackson students and other interested community members and public school supporters. We are open to all who care about public education and want to positively impact Jackson’s present and future!

You can join Friends of Jackson simply by sending the Communications Committee an email. Make sure the subject title reads “Join Friends of Jackson.” You can also contact any committee directly via their email address on the Officers and Committees page.

Yes, we are a 501c3 nonprofit organization with tax exempt status.  If you donate to FoJ, you will receive a letter detailing your tax deductible contribution to FoJ.
