From the Friends of Jackson:
Friends of Jackson stands with our teachers. We are grateful for everything they do. They deserve more support, better pay, better working conditions, and a contract from the School District of Philadelphia.

Dear Superintendent Hite, Assistant Superintendent Harrison, Chairwoman Neff, Commissioner Green, Commissioner Jimenez, Commissioner Simms, and Commissioner Houstoun, Representative Sims, Senator Farnese, Representative Keller, Deputy Secretary Volkman,
I fully support Andrew Jackson Elementary teachers’ reasonable demands for the resources our students and school need to ensure high quality education and for the professional treatment and respect teachers are owed as caring human beings who work so hard to teach and nurture our children.
While we all share responsibility to be part of the solution, right now we need to make our priorities clear and ask for your help:
All Philadelphia students need a full time nurse. We currently have none.
All Philadelphia students need a consistent, full time counselor. Jackson is grateful to have one this year. Many schools don’t. The students who need it most require this to be a reliable and stable relationship. We need to know it will continue going forward.
All Philadelphia schools need a librarian. We currently rely on generous volunteers. Libraries are a basic staple of education, not a luxury provided by those who can afford to donate their money or time.
Students across Pennsylvania need a fair and fully-funded statewide education-funding formula to support the education promised by state law.
