Our Vision for Jackson
Our vision is for Jackson to be the jewel of our community: a school respected for its strong academic record, its arts and science focus, state of the art educational resources, vibrant after school programs, a diverse, multi-cultural student body representative of our neighborhood, highly skilled and dedicated leadership and staff, and robust parent and community involvement
- Opportunity for every student to achieve Academic Excellence
- Commitment to Social Justice/ Equity
- Dedication to Diversity and Inclusivity of our Membership and in our School- we believe both should reflect the neighborhood in which Jackson resides
- Commitment to our Neighborhood and Community
The Friends of Jackson, a 501c3 nonprofit organization, was formed in 2013 in response to the continued resource crisis facing our city’s public schools, and in particular, our neighborhood school. We are made up of future and current parents of Jackson students and other interested community members and public school supporters. We are open to all who care about public education and want to positively impact Jackson’s present and future!
Our Mission Statement
We are a local organization supporting our neighborhood school in demanding a high quality public education for all Andrew Jackson School students, which we believe also strengthens our broader community. We carry out our mission primarily through fundraising, community education and advocacy, and volunteer coordination and outreach activities.
